Happy 100th Anniversary, T-Shirt!

100 years ago, in 1913, the U.S. Navy included the T-shirt in its standard issue uniforms and an American fashion staple was born.  Yes, it was relegated to undershirt duty for decades, but eventually burst forth during the Beat Generation of the 1950's to claim its own place in the world of fashion. Tie-dye, happy faces, catchy slogans and colorful images of all kinds have come to find a home on the simple clothing item.

Some fun survey stats (according to a survey conducted by CustomInk)
-95% of Americans wear T-shirts
-87% own at least 1 T-shirt they keep due to sentimental reasons
-most commonly, these shirts are from a group they belong to or and event they attended
-76% of Americans are more attached to custom designed (rather than mass-produced) shirts
-The most popular T-shirt design of all time......I (heart) NY

You can read more on the history and significance at Wikipedia , or browse through our catalog of T-shirts at our online store. You can also visit our showroom and try on as many T-shirts as you like!
